FLORIDA FIRE SERVICE April 2018 14 R egistration and course selection is now open for the National Volunteer Fire Council’s (NVFC) Training Summit. The Summit will take place June 1-2 in Concord, NC, and is open to all volunteer firefighters, EMTs, department leadership, and other fire department personnel from across the United States. This two-day event features 12 classroom ses- sions and provides an opportunity to share ideas and best practices, network, and partici- pate in valuable training. The Summit will be held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Charlotte Concord Golf Resort & Spa, just outside Charlotte, NC. Sessions address critical fire and emergency service topics, including fire- fighter cancer, behavioral health, recruitment and retention, leadership, fireground safety, and more. The reception will include a vendor area featuring sponsors California Casualty, Columbia Southern University, ESIP/McNeil & Company, NFPA, The Pennsylvania Fireman, and Trident University International. The registration fee for the Summit is $75, which provides two days of training from nationally-recognized instructors, lunches, and the networking social event. To help more first responders attend, a scholarship is avail- able for select attendees. The scholarship will reimburse two nights hotel plus up to $500 per person for transportation expenses. In addi- tion, the registration fee will be waived (or reimbursed, if you have already registered).
