In Memoriam
The FFCA has received notification that the following 5 Bugle Chiefs and FFCA members passed away since the last service. While not all families will be present at the 2024 Memorial Service, we would like to acknowledge and express our gratitude for the contributions these individuals made to the fire service community. If you are aware of someone who has not been included on this list, please contact us at [email protected]. To allow for proper planning, the deadline for names to be received in time for the 2024 service is May 15, 2024.

Memorial Service
The Memorial Service is a solemn ceremony that is opened by the Pipes and Drums and Honor Guard, followed by a ceremony to recognize the contributions and legacy of the honorees. One family member or representative for each individual being recognized is seated in the front row of the Memorial Service. During the ceremony, each are presented with a memorial plaque and flower in recognition of our fallen as the final bell is ceremoniously struck. There is no cost to attend the Memorial Service, and no limit to the number of guests you may bring.
Memorial Information Needed
During the service, the chaplain will read a brief biography with a picture of the honoree displayed on a large screen.
Family members are invited to submit a preferred photo to use. For best results, the picture should be a high-resolution headshot with an aspect ratio of 3 wide by 4 tall.
FFCA staff may compile a biography using information typically found in bereavement notices and obituaries or, if preferred, a family member may submit one they have written. Due to time constraints, the word count is limited to approximately 100 words, which can be difficult. FFCA is available to help with any wording or messaging.
The name on the memorial plaque will be the name provided through the bereavement notice or obituary unless the family requests there be a different name. Please let us know as soon as possible if there is a different name, such as a nickname, to be used on the memorial plaque.

Waiting Room
Members of the FFCA Board of Directors will be waiting in the main hall to greet family members and provide them with support and guidance during the event. Since conference attendees generally gather in the main hall before the prayer breakfast, this area tends to be quite loud. Family members who prefer to spend quiet time together before the Prayer Breakfast or Memorial Service are invited to gather in Meeting Room 4. Light refreshments and coffee will be made available for families in this room.
Dress Code
We ask that Fire Service personnel dress in their Class A uniforms. Semi-formal is recommended for all other attendees.
Hotel Reservations
If hotel accommodations are needed, visit www.ffca.org/edc#hotel to review the terms and booking information at the host hotel for convenience - there is a negotiated reduced group rate for the conference. Please don’t wait, these rooms are going fast and we have no guarantee that we’ll be able to increase our room block or secure overflow off-site once the host hotel is sold out.
