This award recognizes an individual, group, department (career or volunteer), or other agency within the state of Florida who has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to Safety, Health, and Wellness within the fire, rescue, and/or EMS service, or who has made significant and valuable contributions to Safety, Health, and Wellness within their organizations and service as a whole.

Criteria

Both members and no-members may be considered for the award.

The award may be given to:

  • An individual (member or non-member),
  • A group (e.g., committee, task force, ad hoc working group, team, etc.), or
  • An institution, business, or association

To be recognized for this award, contributions must:

  • Have had a significant impact on the achievement of the Association’s goals or the implementation of Association’s initiatives, or
  • Furthered the mission of the Association and/or the Safety and Health Section through program development, education, and awareness programs. (Examples: advocacy on a national level, contributing to the knowledgebase, developing innovative programs, or influencing information policies and trends)

The winners must represent themselves by going above and beyond to improve the safety, health, and wellness of their members and organizations. Initiatives may include any or all the following areas of Safety, Health, and wellness:

  • Cancer Prevention
  • Mental Wellness
  • Health and Physical Fitness
  • Safety at Emergency Incidents

Guidelines

This award is designed to recognize the implementation of programs, policies, procedures or best practices that have led to marked improvements in the area of safety, health and wellness between December 1st and October 31st of the award year.

To Nominate:

  1. Provide an overview of the nominee’s programs, policies, procedures, or best practices being nominated.
  2. Provide details on the impacts these programs, policies, procedures, or best practices have had on the service.
  3. A list of nominees, programs, policies, procedures, or best practices.
  4. Implementation date.
  5. Details on why the programs, policies, procedures, or best practices were created and intended outcomes and/or goals.
  6. How you implemented the programs, policies, procedures, or best practices.
  7. How you educated on the programs, policies, procedures, or best practices.
  8. Provide a write a document or outline of your How you implemented the programs, policies, procedures, or best practices.
  9. Submit a complete nomination packet to the Safety and Health Section Nomination Committee by the prescribed closing date.
