Educational Grants
The Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation solicits charitable donations throughout the year to fund various programs in an effort to make educational and professional development opportunities more accessible to fire and emergency services personnel in the State of Florida.
PURPOSE The purpose of the foundation scholarship and educational grant programs are to develop, reinforce and support fire and emergency services personnel - to help these individuals reach a higher level of achievement through participation in professional development and educational programs.
ELIGIBILITY To be eligible as an educational grant recipient, you must be a current member of the Florida Fire Chiefs' Association. You must have a rank of fire officer or above, be associated with a 100% volunteer, career or combination fire department which serves a population of 100,000 or less. Criteria will be weighted accordingly by:
1. Current member of the Florida Fire Chiefs' Association 2. Fire officer or above 3. 100% volunteer fire department serving a population of 100,000 or less 4. Career or combination department serving a population of 100,000 or less
RESPONSIBILITIES Educational grant recipients must attend the full program on the dates and location specified on their application. If an emergency or illness prevents attendance, recipients may re-apply at any time for attendance at future programs. Scholarships are not transferable to other individuals. Recipients must complete and submit a seminar evaluation form at the end of the program. Scholarship recipients are also required to submit a written report to the Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation detailing advantages gained through attendance which will be published in Florida Fire Service magazine.
NOTICE: Applicant must submit fire chief or city/county manager endorsing application and attendance.
Craig Haun Memorial Centurion Educational Grant Deadline: TBA
The Centurion educational grant in Chief Craig Haun's memory allows the recipient to attend the annual Executive Development Conference.
Part of Chief Haun's legacy was his community and association involvement, his commitment and leadership to this conference, as well as serving as FFCA's 41st President (1997-1998).
The educational grant will provide the recipient with full registration and lodging at the host hotel for the annual Executive Development Conference.
The applicant must be at the company officer level or higher and their application must describe how they meet the following criteria:
- Leadership
- Mentoring
- Education
- Community Service
The successful recipient shall develop an article thanking the Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation and outline how their attendance at the Executive Development Conference impacted them directly, and how it will benefit their department and community using the criteria of leadership, education, mentoring, and community service.

EVT Educational Grant Deadline: TBA
The Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation is extending one (1) educational grant to the Emergency Vehicle Technician Training Academy. Recipients awarded foundation educational grants within the last 24 months are not eligible to receive an educational grant for the same program. The Foundation will pay for your full registration to the Emergency Vehicle Technician Training Academy plus up to five (5) nights hotel accommodations.
Fire-Rescue EAST Educational Grant Deadline: TBA
The Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation is extending educational grants to the Fire-Rescue EAST Conference and Expo. Recipients awarded foundation educational grants within the last 24 months are not eligible to receive an educational grant for the same program. The foundation will pay for your full registration to the conference plus up to five (5) nights hotel accommodations.
Safety & Health Educational Grant Deadline: TBA
The Florida Fire Chiefs' Foundation is extending educational grant opportunities to the Safety & Health Conference. Recipients awarded foundation educational grants within the last 24 months are not eligible to receive an educational grant for the same program. The foundation will pay for your full registration to the conference plus up to four (4) nights hotel accommodations.
